Wonthaggi Garage Blaze

Fire destroys all contents in a back yard Man's Cave (Garage).

Wonthaggi brigade was called to a car fire on the 16th Jan @ 2341hours. With further information being received from neighbors the job was upgraded to a structure fire.

Captain Kim O'Connor was first on scene and quickly sized the job up. There were large explosions coming from the garage caused by aerosol cans combusting. He asked for 2 crews in BA with a further crew on standby. It took about 45mins to bring the blaze under control.

The owner of the garage was hurt when he was saving his SS ute from being destroyed by fire. He sustained minor cuts and bruising on his hand whilst trying to break the passage side window of the vehicle so he could push it out of the way. The owner was able to save his car.

Cause of the fire as not been determined. Fire Investigators were on scene that morning to determine the cause.
