The WFOC plays an important role in resolving wildlife issues during a major incident by communicating and coordinating between the planning and operations sections of an IMT.
The role will operate from the Staging Area and is essentially responsible for:
- Indentifying broad wildlife populations at risk
- Providing specialist animal welfare advice to assist in the development of planning strategies
- Identifying individual animal and wildlife welfare needs
- Coordinating the safe retrieval, treatment and transport of injured animals from the fire ground
- Coordination of all DSE registered wildlife animal rescuers during major incidents.
Congratulations to these CFA members for completing the training and providing a valuable link between CFA and DSE for the rescue and protection of our wildlife.
