Werribee & Wyndham Vale support GFA

After the Werribee brigade split ino 2 brigades in July and formed Wyndham Vale Brigade the 2 brigades joined forces to support the Good Friday Appeal.

The brigades collected at intersections, local IGA Supermarkets and knocked door to door collecting money for a fantastic cause. The brigade last year collected $55,000. This year the brigades smashed last years record and raised $63,615.80.

Its was a fantastic effort from the Werribee & Wyndham Vale Brigades, Wydham St Johns Ambulance, Werribee Coast Guard and local residents who all came forward to pound the pavement and shake the tins. This was followed by an Auction with items donated by local businesses.

The brigades used 7 Fire Appliances to wake up residents and had 4 buses (Werribee Fire Brigade Bus, Wyndham City Council Bus and McKillop College Bus 1 & 2) on hand to move people around. Werribee Station was set up as Control Centre and the Werribee Auxiliary kept the troops very well fed.

The brigade will take a month off and then it will be back into it and commence to organise GFA 2013 and will aim at destroying the $63K raised this year.
