Rowville fire brigade has moved a step closer to becoming an integrated brigade with the appointment of Operations Officer Mark Kennedy to assist in the transition and operation of the combined volunteer and staff fire station.
Two more Operations Officer positions have been created and appointed to Districts 2 and 24 under CFA’s Project 2016 program. In recent months, two other Operations Officer positions have also been assigned to District 8, and District 13.
Project 2016 has released its Annual Review together with a four page summary which highlights the activities and achievements of the project over the past 12 months.
A strong recruitment rate, the establishment of 65 new firefighter positions and the deployment of 35 of them are among several milestones announced in the Project 2016 Review that was recently presented to the Project’s Steering Committee.
More than 100 enthusiastic applicants have taken part in aptitude testing and a practice challenge at CFA’s Fiskville Training College to find out whether they’re suitable to become CFA paid firefighters.
The advertising, selection and appointment for the first round of new firefighter positions under CFA’s Project 2016 has now commenced and is expected to be concluded by about mid January 2012.
