Bushfires Portfolio UpdateProgram:  Building Community Capability and Capacity to Live with FireKey achievements in the past monthThe Advice to Property Owners project has been renamed the Home Bushfire Advice Service and has already met the Implementation Plan’s minimum target for home visits to be achieved by December this year. Regional Fire Safety Officers (Wildfire) have been supported by the headquarters-based ‘surge team’ and continue to deliver their home assessment service to the high-risk regions of the State.

In October 2010 CFA implemented the BPMO into our organisation. Introduction of this organisational change included the formal implementation of the Bushfires Program 2010–12. There was a requirement for formal oversight of the projects emanating from a range of initiatives and opportunities and the increasing need to coordinate CFA’s reporting arrangements. The BPMO is part of the Finance and Administration Directorate, governed by the Bushfires Program Steering Committee.

In July 2011 the final sites of one of CFA's largest IT infrastructure projects went live.

The One Source One Message (OSOM) tool is a system with a single, multi-agency web-based portal to publish real time messages using standard incident management templates.

Last week, former Army Commander, Justin Kelly gave a very insightful talk to a number of CFA Regional Commanders and some Deputy Chief Officers at the State Control Centre. 

CFA has a significant training program, with all firefighters trained to maintain safety, effectively fight fires and deal with a range of incidents.

Programs for Diverse Populations focuses on developing and delivering bushfire safety information aimed at increasing awareness and reducing the risk for people from diverse backgrounds, particularly vulnerable people living and traveling in high bushfire risk locations.
