As the year wraps up, the Healthwatch project team at CFA has reported that 6,100 Victorian emergency service volunteers have now gone through the program since it started in 2008. Of these, 5,356 were CFA members.

CFA’s Healthwatch team was invited to attend this year’s Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council (AFAC) conference in Sydney from 29 August to 1 September. At the event, the Healthwatch team offered health checks delegates. These checks are part of the CFA Healthwatch project offering free health checks and an online cardiovascular risk assessment.

This is the first major step in an all-hazards warning system for all Victoria’s emergency services. MFB will be the next agency to incorporate OSOM in its emergency management warnings.
