Raywood CFA members say they will never forget lifetime member Oswald “Ossie” Wight and the endless contribution he made.

Mr Wight, 81, was killed in a car crash on Monday afternoon at Woodvale on the Bendigo-Pyramid Hill Road. Woodvale and Bendigo CFA member turned out to attend the accident.

Raywood CFA captain Ron Thompson yesterday described Mr Wight as a man who would do anything he was asked.

He said Mr Wight received a national medal for his service to the CFA and was instrumental in getting the Raywood CFA shed built last year.

Ossie was certainly a legend and a gentleman. When the brigade second building was going to take several years he took it upon himself to do the lion share of fundraising to get the project done quicker. He attended local hotels every weekend to raise funds and soon had swelled the bank balance to the point that the shed was able to be built. When all this was done he proudly attended the opening.
