CFA Chief Officer Euan Ferguson was the keynote speaker at the opening of the second annual Operational Training and Volunteerism Team Conference in Creswick that opened yesterday and continues today.

More than 160 members of the OT&V team are attending the conference as well as representatives from VFBV.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Working as one for the future’.

The conference has four key objectives based around CFA’s current and future direction and strategy; as well as sharing best practices and innovation in training. A key objective is to continue to build a unified statewide training team.

The two-day program is focusing on updating OT&V staff on the progress of the outcomes from the 2011Training Team Conference, along with building an understanding and commitment to the current and future directions of operational training within CFA.

Presentations have been made by Executive Director OT&V Lex de Man and Executive Manager Training and Development James Stitz.

The conference also features a series of workshops to discuss key training topics.

The conference is being videoed and a compilation will be available online so that all CFA members can view the key sessions.
