The team delivered 200 new Township Protection Plans, which are now available on the CFA website. The plans were developed by CFA in consultation with local councils and communities for people who live in or visit townships with a high risk of bushfire.
Over the next few weeks, the TPPs will be sent via direct mail to around 400,000 people in high risk bushfire areas across
The plans are also now 16 pages long compared with four pages last year.
This is such a remarkable achievement by all concerned with extensive planning, consultation, development and validation processes underpinning the information in each TPP. The consultation process has seen a much more extensive and labour-intensive process than in previous years.
The new-look TPPs reflect the feedback from the BRCIM to improve their effectiveness with more localised information and a more consistent approach. The BRCIM also required a stronger focus on planning, public access to all relevant local information as well as local community and brigade participation in the planning process.
The availability of new Township Protection Plans for the 2011-12 fire season via the CFA website and direct mail represents a step forward in the presentation of localised bushfire prevention, preparedness and response information for our ‘at risk’ communities.
Paul Harris, Project Manager for the TPP team said, “A tremendous effort has been made from regional staff including TPP coordinators, project officers and community engagement staff, brigade members, stakeholder partners, HQ project staff and active community members. Congratulations on this fantastic achievement.”
