Total Fire Ban for Northern Country

A Total Fire Ban (TFB) has been declared for Tuesday, 3 January in the Northern Country.

The TFB remains in place for the full 24-hour period.

State Duty Officer Gavin Thompson said a TFB carries a number of legal restrictions to reduce the likelihood of fires starting and people needed to be aware.

"At this time of year many Victorians are travelling around the State and camping and this TFB bans the use of fire in the open air," he said.

"Information on TFB is available on the CFA website and those travelling can stay informed by using the smartphone app.

"While the TFB has been declared for four of the nine weather Districts there will be very hot weather right across the State today and tomorrow so people need to take care to not start a fire and stay aware of the local conditions."
