Tostaree fire Incident Controller Glenn Harrap has told ABC Gippsland that firefighters will be working hard today to ensure hotter weather later in the day doesn't cause problems.

Mr Harrap said: "The smoke in the area is still quite thick and we are expecting a south easterly wind change today which may tend north east this afternoon... The expected maximum temperature in that area will be 32 today so obviously in the afternoon as it heats up we will see activity increase in the fire and we are working hard to maintain these lines."
