On arrival, crews found a fan in some ducting work from the kitchen, had just been extinguished with a dry chemical extinguisher by the quick thinking staff of Flanagans Hotel.
A Breathing Apparatus team were sent in to the hotel to make sure the fire was fully extinguished, while firefighters went to work on the roof to investigate the fan.
Once some roofing iron was removed, access was gained to the fan and ducting unit, to make sure the fire was extinguished.
Thanks to the quick response of the Bacchus Marsh Fire Brigade, and staff of the hotel, the fire was prevented from spreading through the ceiling.
Appliances onscene were Bacchus Marsh Pumper, Tanker 1 and Tanker 2.
The OIC of this incident was Lt. Clayden from Bacchus Marsh.
