A video showing the extensive testing carried out by Tait engineers and CFA members has been completed and is now available to view.

CFA’s Radio Replacement Program took on-board feedback left by CFA members and worked with Tait to improve the portable radios and resolve identified faults. The video below demonstrates testing for low audibility, inability to communicate over short distances and water shedding capability.

For more information on the testing of the Tait portable radios, see 'New portable radios tested.'

Thanks for your informative report , just wondering if the external speaker could be active when the truck radio is turned on , the current situation is the radio is active as the ignition is turned on howvere the external speaker has to be manually turned on by activating the external speaker function , this means to activate the speaker the button has to be pushed twice to activate the speaker , it would be far better if the external speaker was activated at the first stage of the radio activation , having to manually switch the speaker on could mean that the external speaker is not active initally and vitial messages may be missed if the operator is unaware that the speaker is not active....is this possible or are we stuck with what we have at this point in time....
