As reported in the Shepparton News, a CFA volunteer received a standing ovation from around 600 people who attended the Cool Heads driver program on Wednesday night.

Kevin Kimberlin, from CFA’s Undera brigade, was one of six speakers at the Shepparton driver program who shared their road trauma experiences with the young audience. Made up of footballers, netballers, parents and those sent by the court for bad driving, program participants attend Cool Heads to learn the consequences of making bad driving choices.

Kevin was the first speaker in Cool Heads' five year history to be given a standing ovation after sharing his experience of being the first on scene when his son was killed in a car crash.

Ross Kimberlin, 18, was on his way home after visiting his girlfriend when he crashed into a tree non Echuca-Mooroopna Rd in September 2009.

Kevin told the audience, “when it comes time for you to make your choices whether to drive or not, I hope the little voice inside your head will remind you of something you saw or heard here tonight.”
