CFA crews from Sorrento, Rosebud, Rye, and Frankston attended a house fire in Blairgowrie, near Sorrento at the weekend.

Firefighters took 30 minutes to bring the fire under control in the single-storey tin roof house on Sunday morning.

A 10-year-old girl and her father died as a result of the fire.

Critical Incident Stress (CIS) Peer Support staff were called to provide support to CFA members involved in the incident.

Tony was an ex school mate of mine and a great bloke. He was a fantastic family man and dedicated his life to his two girls. His selfless act in trying to save Brittany has cost him his life but if he was to lose her he wouldn't have wanted it any other way. RIP mate. Slip.
