SES visits Melton CFA

An invitation was extended to the Melton SES to come along to a training night with the Melton Fire Brigade on Monday night, 17 January.

The night consisted of a show and tell of what each service does in the community, as well as showing off various gear on the appliances, both SES and CFA, and how both services can help each other at various incidents when they're required.

"They" just don't provide storm damage recovery and "we" just don't go to bushfires. So it was a real eye opener for many members as to how SES and CFA had changed over the years.

At the end of the night, a supper was put on for everyone by the Melton Fire Brigade Social Club. Many thanks go to the Melton SES Unit for taking the time out in this busy time for them, and for the Officers and Member of the Melton Fire Brigade for making it happen on the night. Hopefully this will be the first of many training nights together.

Hey Blair, we did the same thing with our local SES in Colac last year... great initiative for inter-agency relationship building. We work with these guys a lot, so the odd training night together helps build familiarity of personnel and equipment for both parties. Definitely something I would encourage any brigade to do as part of their training. Well done!!
