Role of the group Q&A

An online Q&A session will be held at 7pm tonight (Wed 8 August) to discuss the role of the group and local command and control in CFA, hosted by Regional Commander, Office of the Chief Officer Alan Ellis.

This will be an opportunity for members to put their views directly to the working party looking at the role of the Group, which is led by Alan.

Members can pre-submit questions by emailing onlineforum@cfa.vic.gov.au.

In days gone past the role of the DGO was to attach himself to the Captin at the fire , to be his direct link to resources , to maintain a log of activites and be a assistant to that Captin in the control and command of a Fire .
GO's and DGO's were the Captins of the Brigades and as such had a sound knowledge of their Brigade area and that gave the Group a solid overview of the Group area .
In recent times we have ramped up the functions of Groups , maybe a return to a more simple Group structure would be considered.
Do we need to remove one level of management ??
