On The 25th of June Rod Gaskett celebrated 50 years of membership and service with the CFA and Beechworth Urban Fire Brigade.

He has seen many changes over the years with the new fire station to be built in Victoria Road Beechworth one he is looking forward to.

Rod has held many roles with the Brigade as Foreman (now 2nd Lieutenant) from 1969 – 1973, and Captain from 1973 -1977. Rod then became Captain again in 1981 and is still serving in this position. He has also been secretary/treasurer of the Pilot group and the newly formed Bogong group for the past 10 years. Rod is also instrumental in the running and organising of the Fire Equipment Maintenance side of the Brigade as well as the co-ordinator of the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal in the Beechworth area.

Rod is a Life Member of the brigade and the CFA. He also received the National Medal in 1992. Rod has been supported by his wife Jan who is our Comms Officer and family over the years.
