Split over two weekends, the 5 day course involved content about fire behaviour, personal survival, vegetation management and mitigating the bushfire risk to buildings. It also included skills based training on presentation and facilitation skills, which are specific to this community engagement role.
These 20 new personnel join an existing team in CFA of over 80 CLBE personnel across the State. They are now trained up to deliver Fire Ready Victoria, Bushfire Planning Workshops and the Community Fireguard program.
This training also equips these CFA personnel to deliver a range of community engagement activities such as shopping centre displays, community markets and other local events.
It was a great 5 days with overwhelmingly positive feedback about the training course from all the new CLBE personnel– though the same could not be said for the Fiskville weather, which was characteristically cold and wet.
Our new CLBE personnel will soon be ready to deliver our summer preparedness programs, so good luck guys.
