The first regional recognition event was held on 13 September 2012 to thank volunteer employers and brigade supporters for their ongoing commitment to assist CFA in achieving our mission.

Erika Nash was an intensive care nurse and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) qualified when she joined CFA in 2010. Just one year later she took on the captaincy of Otway brigade located in Lavers Hill, one of the original 52 identified high bushfire risk towns.
