The new bunker boots are specifically designed for structural firefighting and allow firefighters to roll down their firefighting trousers over their boots so they can pull them on in one quick motion – known as bunkering.
“The bunker boots have been popular with our members because they can make it easier to jump straight into their gear and get out the door as quickly as possible,” Manager Support Services Mark Tarbett said.
“The role of CFA Brigade Liaison Coordinator Terry Prentice again proved invaluable, establishing and maintaining important relationships with volunteer and career members.”
Approximately 1,500 eligible members unable to attend scheduled fitting sessions will be able to receive boots, at the project’s expense, for a further three months.
During this time, ongoing fitting and supply will revert to regional based arrangements in line with other firefighting footwear types.
