Our CFA Family, a video

The role families play in CFA’s volunteer culture has been explored in a wonderful video created by Gisborne brigade member Peter Harry.

‘Our CFA Family’ follows nine children of Gisborne brigade members who decide to ‘help’ put out a fire one day when their dads are busy.

Dressed up in pint-sized turn out gear, the kids aged between four and eight hop onto Gisborne’s fire truck, 'drive' to the fire call and give brigade member Anton a good soaking after his birthday cake candles catch fire.

The video was produced for Gisborne’s annual brigade dinner last weekend and for the parents of the children starring in it, it was the first time they had seen it.

“I wanted something a little light and positive and to highlight that families are a big part of the CFA volunteer culture – coincidentally it timed nicely with Fathers’ Day too,” said creator Peter Harry.

“It was very well received; we got some really good feedback on the night from all the members who hadn’t seen the finished product. They all took a copy home so they could show their kids the next day.”

This is such a lovely video. Well done to Peter and Gisborne brigade for producing it. Maybe there should be a brigade video competition.
