Recent media outlets have reported that on 17 May 2012, the bushfire class action arising out of the February 2009 bushfire at Beechworth was settled. This class action was brought on behalf of people who suffered loss or damage as a result of the Beechworth bushfire against defendants SPI Electricity Ptd Ltd (SP Ausnet), Eagle Tower Travel Services, Parks Victoria and the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE).

CFA’s public website – www.cfa.vic.gov.au – is being redesigned.

Traralgon Fire Brigade recently voted a new BMT into office.

As you may be aware, CFA was joined as a defendant in a civil class action arising from the Kilmore East fire on 7 February 2009. The proceedings were initially against SPI AusNet on behalf of a class of people who suffered loss and damage as a result of the fire.

CFA crews from Hallston, Leongatha and Mirboo North assisted at the scene of a crop duster crash on Tuesday 1 May around 9.30am.
