On a beautiful sunny day, Mingay Fire Brigade celebrated the opening of their new station with the community last Sunday.

Member for Western Victoria, Simon Ramsay, officially opened the new station. The attendees included Corangamite Shire Councillor Geoff Smith, CFA Barwon South West Regional Manager Bob Barry, CFA Board member Robert Spencer and Mingay Captain Steve Greig.

The day began in the new station where CFA Barwon South West Regional Manager Bob Barry welcomed everybody.

Simon Ramsay spoke about the importance of new fire stations in the District and acknowledged the wonderful efforts CFA volunteers contribute to their communities.

Steve made a speech and thanked everyone for their involvement in making this day so successful. A special thanks went out to the brigade members and their families for their continuing support.

After the official opening District 6 Operations Manager Mal Fallon presented brigade members with service awards.

Everyone then enjoyed a delicious barbeque lunch.

The day was considered by all to be a huge success. A special mention needs to be made to member David Barr, who supplied CFA with a fantastic history of the brigade.
