It replaces a 1983 Ford Type 2 Pumper and accompanies the 12,000L Briggs & Stratton Collar Tank.
Nyah West Urban Fire Brigade was formed in 1927 so has been serving the community for 84 years.
The Brigade currently has 20 members of which 16 are qualified firefighters.
The Brigade has attended 18 fire calls in 2011.
The new Light Pumper replaces a 28 year old 1983 Ford Type 2 Pumper.
The Light Pumper is a two wheel drive diesel appliance that seats a crew of five. Its fibreglass water tank holds 1,200 litres of water and in addition a stainless steel tank holds 100litres of Class B foam.
The appliance is fitted with a Rosenbauer N25 single-stage fire pump which can deliver 2,500 litres of water per minute at 1000kPa. With the addition of a Live Hose Reel that is directly plumbed to the pump’s delivery manifold, the Brigade can immediately attack a fire once on scene.
The new state-of-the-art Light Pumper will be a great asset to the community in protecting their lives and property.
The Light Pumper costs $250,000 and has been funded through CFA’s replacement vehicle capital works program.
Captain Brian Lewis is very pleased with their asset, and would like to thank District 18 and Peter Walsh MP for attending the evening to hand over the keys to him and the brigade.
