New CFA brigade for Eynesbury

CFA is looking to boost its services to the fast-growing area of Eynesbury by forming a new fire brigade in the town.

Due to significant residential growth in the area south of Melton, CFA established a presence in Eynesbury in November, with the addition of a new shed and truck.

On Tuesday, 15 May, a public meeting will be held to vote on a new brigade being officially formed in Eynesbury.

CFA Regional Director for Northern and Western Metropolitan Region, Greg Esnouf, said a stand-alone CFA fire brigade was now needed to better support the developing community of Eynesbury.

“Eynesbury is a rapidly expanding new township within the Shire of Melton, which has a current population of around 1500 people and an expected population of more than 10,000 within 10 to 15 years,” he said.

“The fast-track of the shed and appliance in the town last year was thanks to GEO Developments who donated $50,000 towards planning, permits, construction and materials involved with the project.

“A 3000 litre tanker has also been assigned to the Eynesbury shed, which was used for the first time last month when five members turned out to a grass and scrub fire on Parwan-Exford Road.”

Currently, Eynesbury is part of the Parwan Fire Brigade area. The formation of the new fire brigade will see Eynesbury’s response area move from CFA’s District 15 to District 14 in the North West Metropolitan region.

“With plans to form the new brigade in July, Parwan Fire Brigade and the North West Metro Region have formed a strong partnership to help the township of Eynesbury prepare for this milestone,” Mr Esnouf said.

“This has included enormous support from Parwan Fire Brigade who recently ran a successful recruitment campaign, securing 11 new members who have now completed Minimum Skills training.

“Including residents who are already CFA members, this brings the strength of responders at Eynesbury to 18, which is a positive and exciting beginning for this new brigade.”
