On arrival, Hoppers Crossing were confronted with a car accident & fire with 1 person visible in the car.
A grass fire was going in the paddock, power lines were down and a power pole had sheared off at the base.
Hoppers Crossing Station Officer Stuart Walker requested Powercor to have the power lines isolated.
Emergency services had to maintain a safe distance from the power lines but a Werribee Rescue Operator maintained verbal communication with the patient to reassure him and find out some very important information to assist with the rescue.
Truganina Tanker was deployed into the paddock to stop the grass fire.
Due to the powerpole containing both 22kV and 66kV lines (the 66kV line was the main feeder between Brooklyn and Bacchus Marsh), Powercor had to send 3 operators to different locations to isolate the power (1 operator to Brooklyn sub station, 1 operator to Bacchus Marsh and 1 operator to the accident scene).
Once the power had been isolated and the powerlines earthed, Werribee Rescue Operators and Ambulance Victoria paramedics started work on removing the casulty.
The casualty was removed and taken to hospital with leg & pelvis injuries.
