Story and photos by Mutoa brigade's Michael Newell
Flood water was just starting to enter the medical centre when Murtoa captain Campbell Howell paged out for help sandbagging. Within 30 minutes the centre was secure and pumped out.
Attention then turned to getting the water out of the flooded streets to protect other property. Every pump available went into action shifting flood water into the empty Lake Marma. Neighbouring brigades assisted with pumpers, tankers and quickfills until the threat eased and the drains caught up.
Only one house suffered minor flood damage.
Murtoa has a half full lake and we're now looking forward to some good fishing weather.
