The exercise was designed to test the logistics of multi vehicle placement, including the positioning of Dandenong Ladder Platform, evacuation and rescue of residents and internal fire attack.
The exercise began with a briefing from Operations Officer Gavin Wright, then the fire alarm was sounded and the residents evacuated from the building. BA crews with Hi-Rise kits entered the fire stairs and quickly moved to the fourth floor, running lines from internal millcocks.
Dandenong Ladder Platform enacted a fourth floor balcony rescue of trapped residents, while Lilydale and Coldstream pumpers fed the fire service boost point and Platform.
Yellingbo Support (Rehab) was on hand to look after the multiple BA wearers and Bayswater BA attended to refill cylinders.
Exercise writers Lilydale Lieutenants' Steve Campbell and Steve Woods were happy with the exercise and said everybody attending had certainly learnt a lot and there were a number of things that they would be adding to the preplan of the complex. "Having the chance to work out some of the problems that could arise during an exercise situation will give us a chance to put this knowledge to good use if a real incident was to occur".
