How often do you attend a Group Exercise and expect to vie for the coveted Fiskville Cup?

With thanks to Irene Keating (BASO Moorabool Catchment).

The Fiskville Cup, held on Sunday the 28th of October, incorporated brigades from Ballan, Blackwood, Gordon, Greendale, Millbrook, Morrisons and Mt Egerton. Each brigade entered one of their tankers and took part in exercises in and around the township of Ballan, ensuring their Brigade is in a state of readiness for the upcoming fire danger period.

During the morning, the crews participated in tasks that included: car fire extinguishment, road crash rescue, draughting from a static supply, boosting to another appliance, a Hazardous Materials incident, health and safety and first aid on the fire ground, mechanical maintenance of the appliance, alarm investigation and pre-plans, and burn over protection.

Each crew was also graded on their leadership, teamwork, PPC, positioning of the appliance, etc, with scores added up at the end of the morning.

The day was huge success with Mt Egerton winning the cup, closely beating out Ballan. Mt. Egerton also won the Best Crew Leader, with Blackwood winning “Tidiest Tanker.”

With the Ballan Auxiliary putting on a fantastic lunch, Group Officer Neil Labbett congratulated the crews and presented the Cup to the Mt Egerton crew.

Many thanks to everyone who made the morning what it was, including;
