Mosquito Creek RFB is located on the western side of Lake Eppalock 25km from Bendigo, with the lake at only 9% and the local community amounting to only a couple of hundred people we don’t get much exposure.
So while our Captain (Bill) was over in the United States he dropped in on a couple of fire departments and some old friends.
First stop was the National Inter-agency Fire Centre to catch up with Bodie Shaw, Deputy Director Bureau of Indian Affairs who joined Mosquito Creek brigade for 6 months while he was in Australia 2008/2009.
When his work commitments allowed, Bodie participated in some of our brigade training and also turned out to a fire with us. The whole brigade benefited from his skills and knowledge.
Captain Bill also dropped in on the KUNA Rural Fire District Brigade and after some jovial banter unleashed our flag for a photo op. The guys were all really friendly and enjoyed Bill’s visit, sharing some jokes and a cuppa.
When Bill was in LA and was travelling passed the LAFD, he couldn’t resist the urge to go and say "G’day". After more jokes and a close up look at some really big Fire trucks Bill couldn’t leave without getting the flag out for a photo or two.
Our flag has been to a lot of other places as well so we are now dedicating a gallery page to it on our web site.
