A confined space rescue was performed by CFA members on scene after finding a man trapped down a water-filled well. The man was freed just before midday. The 91cm-wide well had about 2.5m of water at the bottom.

The Sunday Herald Sun reported that the man was standing on the concrete lid of the well fixing a windmill when he fell. Wangaratta CFA senior station officer David Baker said the man's wife heard his calls for help and threw a rope down before calling emergency services.

More details available on Herald Sun's website.
