When crews arrived onscene in Quality Drive Dandenong South smoke was billowing from a metal fabricating factory around 12:30am on Tuesday morning (26 June).

Senior Station Officer Don Wilke called for Dandenong Ladder Platform as soon as they arrived at the 30 X 15 metre structure. Hallam Pumper and their crew worked with the Dandenong staff and vols to contain the fire to the main factory.

Computers in the front office were lifted from the ground to protect them from water runoff and all their paperwork was saved. Crews used quickcut saws to gain access via the front and rear doors of the metal clad building.

A good water supply was available in the busy industrial area which helped with the operation of the platform. Frankston Breathing Apparatus Van arrived to refill cylinders onsite as firefighters rehydrated between circuits.

The owners were onscene along with Police who are assisting them with enquiries. Power company staff arrived and isolated power to the building.

The council building inspector was to attend in the morning along with fire investigators to establish the cause of the fire.
