Member classification update

Monday, 17 September 2012

The Brigade and Member Classification project is in its final stages and some minor updates have been made to further align with the CFA mission statement.

The previous proposal of four membership classifications (Firefighter, Brigade Support, Associate Member and Junior member) has been reduced to two classifications - Brigade member and Junior member. This is to ensure all volunteer members are considered equally important regardless of their role.

It’s now mandatory for Brigade Management Teams to include a community engagement role. Community engagement is core business for CFA. Training and skills maintenance, as well as brigade health and safety, are now mandatory roles in every brigade.
