THE Maldon Fire Brigade has celebrated its 150th anniversary with a torchlight procession, a family day and a members’ dinner.

More than more than 200 people participated in the torchlight procession.

Brigade secretary Neil McKnight says brigade members enjoyed themselves and the celebrations were well supported by other brigades.

Saturday’s open day at the fire station attracted hundreds of people to see a display of old fire appliances, including horse-drawn and hand-drawn machines.

The 150th anniversary dinner attracted 120 people including CFA Chief Officer Euan Ferguson and Fire Services Commissioner Craig Lapsley.
