Although it rained intermittently it was not enough to dampen the spirits of the 100’s of visitors to the Knox Community Safety Expo, last Sunday.
From late morning til afternoon, crowds were entertained with the Victoria Police Show Band, emergency services vehicles of all shapes and sizes a vehicle cut up by SES and a variety of kids activities.
SES Paddy Platypus and Constable T Bear mingled with the crowd delighting both kids and their parents, giving out hand shakes and Hi 5’s, there may also be some video footage of a DGO dancing with Paddy, but this rumour is yet to be substantiated!
CFA was represented by Knox Group, Scorseby, Upper Ferntree Gully, The Basin, Ferntree Gully and Boronia brigades whose hard working volunteers engaged with the community promoting fire safety and entertaining the children.
Our fleet was showcased by Scoresby tanker, Upper Ferntree Gully Slip On, Ferntree Gully Big Fill and Boronia Pumper Tanker and Pumper 2. All of which were keenly investigated by the public.
Knox DGO Lynne Smith said “The event has doubled in size from last year and will build into a major event in the Community Safety Month calendar in the coming years thanks to the efforts of Victoria Police, CFA, SES Knox City Council and the generous help and support of Knox City management”.
So if you missed this great day out this year put it in your diary for next October, hope to see you there
