Captain Karyn Norbury received the citation on behalf of the Brigade and each of the 24 members involved with the fires on Black Saturday were also presented with a Unit Citation medal which they can proudly wear at official functions.
Although those presented were very grateful for the recognition all agreed it would have been better to not to have gone through the experience in the first place.
On the same night the Brigade launched a case study into the incident involving Tanker 2 which can be found on their website at www.kinglakewest.com/apps/doucuments.
And to top off the night 9 members received long service awards ranging from 5 years to 25 years.
