Junk the Jargon

As part of our efforts to improve emergency communications, Victorian fire services are trying to 'junk the jargon' and come up with common terms that the community can easily understand.

We’re asking members of the public to suggest clear and simple language for the Warnings and Incidents webpage on CFA, DSE and MFB’s websites.

The new terms will be incorporated into the upgrades to the Warnings and Incidents webpage, which is being redeveloped for the next fire season.

What words make sense to you? Take a quick survey and tell us.

(If you're a firefighter try to put yourself in the shoes of an ordinary community member who doesn't know operational terms.  Internal operations systems will continue to use existing terminology.)
