Juniors Search and Rescue

Out of low cloud last Thursday night, 16 September 2010, sirens sounded, lights blinked as Sassafras Ferny Creek Junior Brigade members emerged to treat parents and friends to a search and rescue extravaganza.

1st Lt John Tomada welcomed all those present, and then led forth by welcoming Robert Horner, Dorothy Riddiford and Richard Cromb to present trophies and awards to this year’s successful junior members.

After the formalities, those attending were invited to participate in an event to showcase the skills learnt by the juniors.

Those brave souls were then led into the abyss of the local hall adjacent to the station. A smoky mist could be seen permeating into the surrounding bushland, this was just another huge step for the junior brigade members.

We offer thanks to the brave who participated in the search and rescue exercise, it was then back to station to celebrate their 39th Anniversary with a magnificent feast put on by Sassy’s very sassy Auxiliary.

Congratulations to the leaders, award winners and to all the young members who continue support CFA and its meaning of life.
