i-Survive Project

The 'i-Survive Project' is a pilot project investigating the use of Smartphones and social networks (such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, etc.) during emergencies, disasters and catastrophes.

Stemming from the investigator's own experiences during Black Saturday (7 February 2009) and more recently during the West Gippsland floods (5 February 2011), Dr. Julie Willems received an auDA Foundation grant in 2011 to conduct the research.

The research project's logo is comprised of photos taken during both events. Julie is keen to hear about the different experiences of emergency services personnel, the civilian population, and others who may have used Smartphones and social networks in the preparation of, or during, such crisis situations, and is looking for participants to take part in the online survey.

The survey takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete and can be accessed via the research webpage: http://isurviveproject.wikispaces.com/i-Survive+Project.

Thank you for taking part.
