House alight at Lilydale

The fantastic work by Lilydale and surrounding brigades, shaking tins for the Good Friday Appeal, was dramatically cut short on Good Friday (6th April), when Lilydale and Mooroolbark Brigades were paged to a reported housefire in Chirnside Park.

Smoke and flames were easily visible enroute to the fire, with multiple 000 callers stating it was a split level timber home on fire, and unknown if anyone was inside.

Once onscene, under the direction of Captain Davis, a breathing apparatus entry team was sent in to complete a primary search of the residence to rescue any people still inside, and locate the seat of the fire. Thankfully, no one was home at the time.

Multiple hoselines were put to use from a number of Pumpers, with Bayswater Breathing Appratus Van being requested to fill cylinders on the job.

The fire was brought under control within an hour, with Captain Davis praising his crews for a job well done in very trying conditions.

Appliances in attendance were;

Lilydale - Pumper 1, Pumper 2, Salvage.

Mooroolbark - Pumper, Salvage.

Bayswater - BA Van.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Victoria Police and CFA Fire Investigators.

The Officer in Charge of this fire was Captain Warren Davis of Lilydale Fire Brigade.
