Hillside gets a helping hand

Hillside Fire Brigade has used an ExxonMobil Volunteer Grant to purchase two Protek high-tech firefighting nozzles.

These nozzles, valued at over $600 each, throw a better stream and fog pattern than less sophisticated types. It is expected that they will improve both the efficiency and safety of firefighters manning the Hillside tanker.

The ExxonMobil Volunteer Involvement Program provides grants of $1000 to community organisations with which Esso employees volunteer their services. Daniel Irish, an offshore oil rig worker, is a volunteer firefighter with Hillside CFA. It was at his suggestion that the brigade successfully applied to ExxonMobil for a grant.  This grant covered most of the cost of the nozzles purchased.
