The benefits of this program designed by Gavin at Hamilton Gymnasium are already starting to come through and can only be seen as a positive experience for all members. Talk has already moved to continuing after the end of the 6 week program; but members are planning for a slightly later start.
This week we have 2 more reports from members taking part.
2lt Richard Vandermost: 1st day of week 1 was a huge struggle to leave the warmth of comfy bed @ 5.00 am after the first work out the body as aching arms & leg just felt they shouldn't be there. Now we are at the half way mark and at this stage I couldn't feel better. Jumping out of bed before the alarm goes off. The workouts are faster the body is taking it easier and I’m feeling so much better for it. It’s a great initiative by Gavin to offer this to our brigade and we are all seeing the benefits of it. Great work by all
Fire Fighter Susan Showler: Week 3 and the 5:30 am wake up call. Oh no not gym again! Thoughts of dread and anticipation, thinking what Gav has planned for us this week. I am finally getting the hang of the punching balls, loving the shaker machines, not so co-ordinated with the speed ball, but with Gav’s constant encouragement we come out of each gym session feeling slightly weary but invigorated and energetic and ready to take on another week of work and life commitments.
Stay tuned for update from week 4 and how members have improved since week 1 with members conducting another fitness test.
