CFA and MFB crews were called to the fire in Civic Drive about 6.25am today, 15 June.

District 14 Operations Officer Phil Peacock said the building was fully involved when firefighters arrived.

“It was a long portable building of about 20m by 40m,” he said.

“It is believed at this stage, the portable was being used as temporary office space as the Shire’s main building was undergoing some renovations.”

OO Peacock said six appliances and more than 30 CFA firefighters worked to battle the blaze, which was called under control at 8.16am.

“We also had crews from MFB on scene and it was a great cooperation between both agencies,” he said.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, however, an investigation will be undertaken this morning.
