Glen Alvie celebrates new station

Last Sunday, 17 June, Glen Alvie fire brigade celebrated the official opening of their new station.

Member for Bass, the Hon. Ken Smith officially opened the new facility and handed it over to the brigade.

The new station has been built on a new site within the Glen Alvie Recreation Reserve.

Southern Metropolitan Regional Director Peter Schmidt acknowledged and thanked Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Veronica Dowman for the cooperation shown by Bass Coast Shire and the Glen Alvie Recreation Reserve Committee in securing the lease for the land.

The building was funded by the CFA Rural Fire Station program.

Also present was CFA Board member Micheal Tudball, SMR Operations Manager Trevor Owen and Operations Officer Jim Dore.

As part of the event, there was a presentation of service medals to brigade volunteers by OM Trevor Owen and OO Jim Dore.

At the conclusion of the ceremony SMR Regional Director Peter Schmidt distributed CFA Firestar roses to those who attended. The plants were a donation to the brigades from Knights Roses of Gawler (SA) and Gardeners Gate Nursery of Keysborough.
