On turnout, the further given by Vicfire was that a neighbour could see flames coming out of the roof of a house. Further callers stated that the house was totally ablaze.
Once onscene, Gisborne Captain requested additional Tankers due to issues with sourcing water. By this stage, a vast majority of the house was totally involved in fire with the roof collapsing in.
A water shuttle was put into operation with Tankers supplying water from a street hydrant down the end of the 200m driveway to Gisborne Tanker 1 and Sunbury Pumper. Bullengarook Tanker also supplied water via relay from a dam on the property, some 150m away.
Once the rain had set in, and all of the fire knocked down, some appliances were released back to their own areas. Overhaul operations were then put into place for the rest of the afternoon while awaiting for the building surveyor and Fire Investigation to arrive.
Crews were onscene blacking out well into the night.
Brigades involved in the firefight were Gisborne, Sunbury, Bullengarook, Toolern Vale Carlshrue and Diggers Rest, with the MCV from Mt. Macedon Group and the BA Support from Sunbury assissting.
