Competing against some of the best Brigades in NSW, Echuca were Runners Up in the Competition. In fact the final result wasn't decided until the last event, with Kelso winning the competition by a bare 20 points. Other Vic teams to compete were Lakes Enterance & MFB. A NZ team,Carterton, also crossed the Ditch to compete.
It was a great effort by Echuca, as they had to compete using NSW gear & equipment, which is slightly different to CFA's. NSW events are mainly "Pumper" events & ran on grass, very different to what we do in our Urban Demos. As well as competing, we made & renewed many friendships with our northern cousins, who showed us great hospitality & sportsmanship (even when we were beating them!!!!). A number of Brigades even expressed an interest to compete in our State Demo in Warrnambool next year.
We look forward to travelling north of the Murray again in 2 years time & hopefully bring back the Alfred Webb Cup to Victoria.
