CFA Fleet Services has begun a Board-endorsed project to develop a Fleet Management Strategy for firefighting vehicles that helps Fire and Emergency Management achieve its business objectives.

A Fleet Management Strategy will:

  • deliver a system that demonstrates effective fleet management and underpins replacement cycles;
  • support capital expenditure and funding submissions;
  • establish a CFA-specific strategy to manage the firefighting fleet including:
      • fit for purpose acceptance by members and community
      • maintenance
      • refurbishment
      • replacement
      • disposal.

During the project, Fleet Services will be gathering data and consulting with a broad range of CFA members at a number of forums around the State. A number of presentations will be held with Fire and Emergency Management staff, region and district representatives along with CFA members. These presentations will generate discussions regarding firefighting fleet management where feedback will be collected.

If you have a specific forum that you would like Fleet Services to address or require any further information, please contact Tim Smith, Manager Fleet Performance via email at tim.smith@cfa.vic.gov.au

You are also welcome to provide your feedback on firefighting vehicle fleet management via email at fleetserv-ops@cfa.vic.gov.au.

Download the pdf flyer (members only) with information about the project, the specification for the 74 new medium tankers currently in production (due for completion June 2013) and Fleet Services contact details.
