Over 200 people have tuned in since the start of the fire season and over 100 questions and comments have been put to FireReady presenter Belinda Ainley.
“Online bushfire information sessions provide a convenient and interactive way for the community to learn about bushfire safety,” said Project Manager
“We recognised that everyone is busy at this time of year. We provide these online sessions so that people can learn about bushfire risk and preparation from the comfort of their own home.”
Questions from the last meeting included:
“I’m going camping on the weekend, how do I know what fire restrictions are in place?”
“Is Doreen a high risk area?”
“Our council is very slow to cut grass on the roadsides - can CFA make them do it quicker?”
"For people who live out in the bush, what is the best foaming agent to use? And can you hook that foam into a house protection system?”
“A neighbour has a dangerously overgrown yard with growth over 8 feet high & is a serious fire risk for surrounding neighbours. The local council & CFA have been contacted but won't act. What can we do?”
This Online Bushfire Information Session will be held at 8pm on Tuesday 17 January.
The following session will be held on Tuesday 31 January at 8pm, tailored toward parents.
