CFA fire investigaters have pored over the ruins of a large home at a rural property at Wandin East which was destroyed by fire just after 3.30pm Tuesday 7 August.

A resident returned from an afternoon shopping trip to find his 30 square home engulfed in flames.

He made several unsuccessful attempts to enter the house before CFA crews arrived. He was uninjured.

12 trucks from Wandin, Silvan, Seville, Hillcrest, Gruyere and Yellingbo worked on the blaze for 45 minutes. Crews remained at the scene for several hours dousing hot spots.

While a cause is yet to be determined, the fire is not suspicious.

Silvan was one of the first appliances on scene and Bayswater BA assisted with cylinder filling.
